Due to limited availability, Melissa is only accepting clients who are specifically looking to do intensive Brainspotting work at this time. Melissa is a Certified Brainspotter and Brainspotting Consultant who offers Day-Long Intensives (9 AM-4PM) or 3-Day Long Intensives. Individuals who are coming from outside of Maryland are able to participate in the 3-day Intensives by planning to come to Maryland for an in-person 3-day Intensive. These appointments must be scheduled directly with Melissa by emailing her at melissa@lifespringcounseling.net.
Hello, I'm Melissa Wesner. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, as well as the founder of LifeSpring Counseling Services. Working with me, you can rest assured that you will be working with someone up-to-date. I continue to expand my knowledge by using specialized research and interventions.
I help clients with trauma, depression, anxiety, and difficult life circumstances. I also have specialized training in Brainspotting. I offer a safe, judgement-free space where I use coping strategies for clients to feel in control of thoughts, feelings, and actions. I work with individuals who seek to make change, pursue personal growth, and live life.
I am known among clients and colleagues for being supportive, empathetic and patient. I also provide accountability and challenge. In working together, you can expect us to observe lifestyle balance and wellness.

Specialized Training
I am a Gottman Bringing Baby Home Program Educator and a Gottman 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work Leader. I have received specialized training in EMDR and Brainspotting, and I am now a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner and Brainspotting Consultant. I have also completed the level 1 trauma training through the Ferentz Institute, and I have completed the sex therapy track of the University of Michigan’s year-long Sexual Health Certificate Program. I am also a member of the Maryland Counseling Association. I also completed both the Emotional Skills and Competencies (ESAC) and Evaluating Truthfulness and Credibility (ETAC) tests through the Paul Ekman Group.
In my free time, I like to read, plan gatherings, kayak, and spend time on the water.
Educational Background
I have a Master of Science in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. I also have a Post-Master's Certification in Spiritual and Existential Counseling and Therapy. I have experience with drug and alcohol treatment with medication assisted therapies. Some medications include Methadone and Suboxone. Additionally, I have provided crisis intervention services in the emergency department. I have also worked as a faculty member at Towson University.
Over the past 6+ years, I have been growing LifeSpring Counseling Services in Towson, MD. LifeSpring is a welcoming and inclusive group practice. We strive to provide quality counseling services to individuals in the local community.
