LifeSpring’s Approach to Counseling for International Students and Workers
Living in a new country can be exciting and stressful all at the same time. You may be lacking your usual supports at a time when navigating a new location, language, and culture. With counseling, you have a place to process the challenges you are experiencing with a trained professional. It’s normal to feel nervous about opening up to a stranger. It’s okay that you feel concerned about being vulnerable with someone you don’t know. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable talking about certain things. Counseling is a process, and you get to take the lead. It’s up to you to determine how much you share and how quickly you share. You and your therapist will work together to build a positive relationship, so you can feel comfortable sharing.
