LifeSpring’s Approach to Counseling for College Students

At LifeSpring, we work with a lot of college students as our office is located right between Towson University and Goucher College. We’re also not far from Loyola University, Johns Hopkins University, and MICA. We know that college can be a stressful, yet exciting time in someone’s life. With guidance and support from someone who isn’t your parent or friend, we’ll help you work through big life transitions and make decisions that are true to your values and the person you want to be. With counseling, you’ll have an objective person to confide in, and you’ll be able to learn new strategies for managing classes, work, and relationships.

During the first few sessions, your therapist will gather information from you to better understand who you are, your current concerns, and the goals that you’d like to work on. Your information is completely confidential, so if you would like your therapist to speak with your parent or doctor, you will need to sign a release of information form that gives them permission to do so. Depending on your goals, your therapist may provide you with information, introduce new coping strategies, or simply provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space to work through current challenges.

What is Holding You Back from Starting Counseling as a College Student?

If you’re a college-aged individual, you may not be accustomed to scheduling your own appointments, and you may not understand your insurance benefits. At LifeSpring, we try to make scheduling as easy as possible which is why we offer online scheduling. We also verify your insurance benefits prior to your appointment. If this is the first time that you have ever looked into counseling services for yourself, you can always reach out to us with any questions.
