7 Things You Didn’t Know About Your Therapist

Have you ever wondered what your therapist REALLY thinks of you? Perhaps you’re curious about what your therapist is like outside of the therapy room. We asked our Towson-based therapists to share 1-2 things that you might not know about them as therapists.  These are their responses.

  • Your therapist is not perfect and will make mistakes, but they will work to keep learning and expanding upon their skills to find ways they can fix those mistakes.

  • Your therapist understands more than you might think they do, they just can’t always say it. You aren’t alone in your experiences. In one way or another, they can relate.

~ Sophie Koch, LGPC

  • Your therapist regularly participates in workshops, seminars and training to stay up to date on the best therapeutic practices in the field.

~ Chelsea Cowden, LGPC

  • Your therapist probably thinks about you in between sessions and wonders how you are doing.

  • Your therapist often wishes you saw yourself in the same positive, strengths-based light that we see you in.

~ Michaela Langley, LGPC

  • Your therapist understands what you might be struggling with and they will help you navigate those struggles so you are able to overcome them.

  • Your therapist will discuss helpful coping strategies that they have used on themselves that may be beneficial for you.

~ Sabah Khalid, LGPC

We’d love to hear your thoughts. Did any of these responses surprise you?  It’s true. Therapists regularly think about their clients between visits, and we regularly engage in ongoing learning, so we can better support you and your needs.  We’re people too, so not only do we have strategies to offer, but we can relate with you!

Thinking about starting therapy? Here are some resources that we hope will help!

Are you a Maryland resident looking to start online or in-person therapy?

If you’re a Marylander who knows that counseling is the direction you need to take, the therapists at LifeSpring Counseling Services are here to help. We offer online counseling services for mindfulness, depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief and loss. We also offer Brainspotting as a specialized service, and Brainspotting can be done online, too!

Here’s how you can get started! Online counseling for anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and grief and loss aren’t the only services offered at our Maryland office.

The counselors and social workers at our Maryland office also offer counseling services for trauma, grief and loss, boundary setting, communication skills, and difficult life transitions. We also offer specialized counseling services including Brainspotting and spiritually-integrated counseling. Because we are located next to several local universities, we also work with college students and international students.
