Michaela Langley, LGPC

Hello! My name is Michaela Langley (she/her/hers), and I’m a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) providing teletherapy services to young adults, adults, and couples in the state of Maryland.
I believe therapy should be accessible, which is why I strive to make the process as comfortable and as transparent as possible.
Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, challenging relationships, life transitions, or all of the above, I’m here to help you work through difficult emotions, gain insight, and feel understood.
My work with individuals is predominantly rooted in client-centered, cognitive behavioral, attachment, and solution-focused methods, though I simultaneously tailor my approach to your unique needs.
I believe in empowering you to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that may be hindering your progress, and I also believe that spending some time exploring your life experiences, relationships, and family of origin can help us make better sense of what you’re currently experiencing. Reduced mental health symptoms, increased self-compassion, better emotion regulation, and improved relationships are all likely outcomes of therapy.
In my work with couples, I’ve found that unhealthy (yet common) habits can keep us feeling stuck and dissatisfied. When we give up those habits and replace them with healthier habits, we tend to feel better! Through a Gottman Method and EFT informed approach, I help couples communicate better, understand each other, and rebuild emotional connection.
In therapy, I work hard to create a non-judgmental and supportive space for you to explore and discuss your true thoughts and feelings through a blend of empathy, authenticity, and a touch of humor. My clients describe me as down-to-earth and accepting, yet direct in my feedback. If you’ve found yourself feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward, and you’re motivated to make changes, I’m ready to help!
“All great changes are preceded by chaos.”

Outside of the office…
When I’m not in the office you can usually find me in my home gym, reading a book, listening to a podcast, or cooking an overly ambitious meal for my family. I also love spending time dreaming up my next hobby or project!
Educational Background
I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Towson University and a Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University. During my undergraduate studies I joined a research lab studying emotions via behavioral and psychophysiological methods, sparking my special interest in emotion regulation. I also have experience in hospital, community outpatient clinic, detention center, and private practice settings working with adolescents, young adults, and adults. Throughout my work I continue to look for and take advantage of opportunities for continuing education to better help my clients.
