LifeSpring’s Approach to Brainspotting Services for Depression
Sometimes our depressed mood is brought on by our circumstances, and sometimes it’s a more chronic situation. Brainspotting is able to help with depressed mood in both cases. With Brainspotting, we can target symptoms that have been particularly difficult to deal with, or we can process the circumstances contributing to the depressed mood. Either way, Brainspotting can help reduce the intensity of what we’re experiencing and provide us with new insights and understanding. At LifeSpring, the first thing we will do is meet with you for an initial evaluation, so we can understand your history, lifestyle, health concerns, current symptoms, reason for seeking Brainspotting services, and goals for treatment.
When we meet for a Brainspotting session, we will ask you to come prepared with the topic or concern that you would like to work on in that meeting. For example, you may want to brainspot a feeling of dread, low motivation, or a negative belief that you have about yourself. From there, your therapist will help guide you through the Brainspotting process, so that you can work on that specific concern. Many times, people will tell us that they feel better at the end of the session or that their concern feels more manageable.
What is Holding You Back from Starting Brainspotting for Depression?
Low motivation, low energy, and hopelessness are key symptoms of depression, and all of them can prevent you from reaching out for help. While you may feel hopeless about your situation or the ability to feel better, it’s important to know that you can feel better and that your situation is not hopeless. Don’t let the symptoms of depression prevent you from getting the help you need. Your low energy, mood, and motivation will not improve if you don’t take action. Take the first step to getting help, even if it requires you to push yourself to take action.
