Quick Everyday Mindfulness Activities
Mindfulness activities can be a great way to help manage a variety of symptoms. Do you ever have a hard time fitting these activities into your day? The goal of this blog is to introduce you to some easy mindfulness activities that can be used daily and fit into a busy schedule.
Mindfulness is about working to be present in your current activities and moments. Additionally, it has been shown to help alleviate the intensity of anxiety symptoms. Sometimes mindfulness activities can seem daunting to fit into your schedule, or complicated to execute. Below are some quick ways that you can incorporate more mindfulness into your day.
Daily Intention & Mindfulness Cards
Setting intentions for the day can be a good way to stay focused on something that is unrelated to your anxiety. They can be a great way to incorporate some positive thoughts into your daily routine. They are something you can try to focus on if you start to feel anxiety creep in.
This is a quick mindfulness activity because you simply pull one card out of a deck and keep that intention with you for the day. You can, of course, spend additional time thinking about your intention and visualizing it if you want. If it is overwhelming, you can just carry it with you to look at when needed.
Journaling for Mindfulness
Journaling can be a fantastic way to release your thoughts. Journaling does not have to be structured writing either! In fact, it can be whatever you want it to be. The activity of journaling can even just be scribbles and doodles on a page. You can write words to describe how you were feeling today, or what you want to focus on moving forward. You can journal in the morning or the evening. Journaling can be done whenever you want, and it can take up as much or as little of your day as you would like it to. You can use your journal in any way. You can write what you are grateful for, write about any good ideas you had during the day, or things you want to do the following day. Your journal is yours to control, so use it in any way that works best for you. If you feel that more structured journaling is better for you then you can find a variety of pre-made journals with built in prompts online.
Mindfulness Apps
Mindfulness apps can be a convenient way to incorporate some quick mindfulness activities into your day. Using an app for these activities can take out the requirements of having to plan mindfulness, and these can help it be more guided. Also, apps can allow you to determine the amount of time you have to spend on a mindfulness activity. Whether you need a 1-minute breathing exercise to ‘reset’, or a longer meditation, these apps can be used anywhere and at any time!
Mindfulness has become something that is regularly recommended to people who struggle with a variety of symptoms and stressors. Though mindfulness can seem daunting at first, it’s all about finding the activities that work best for you! Discussed above are a few ways to get introduced to the activity of mindfulness and to find ways that can be easily incorporated into your schedule. Little introductions of mindfulness can be a great way to determine if it works for you. If you already know which methods work best for you, but struggle to find the time for it try using the above tips for those extra busy days!
