If you, or someone you know, is looking to learn more, or is in need of additional support or services, here are some local and national LGBTQIA+ resources we want to share with you!

Maryland-Based Resources for the LGBTQIA+ Community

Baltimore Pride

Baltimore Pride, hosted by the Pride Center of Maryland, began in 1975 when activists united for peaceful demonstrations. Baltimore Pride has evolved and expanded to become a way to celebrate Pride, and became a “city-wide tradition” that includes events such as: Pride Party, Block Party, Youth Pride, and more (Baltimore Pride, n.d.).

Baltimore Pride is a great way to:

  • Find local events

  • Learn about the history of Pride

  • Show support, join the community, and get involved!

Baltimore Safe Haven

Baltimore Safe Haven is a locally owned, trans-led wellness center for at-risk members of the TLGBQIA community who are experiencing housing insecurities in Baltimore City, providing individuals “with opportunities to thrive” (Baltimore Safe Haven [BSH], n.d.).

Baltimore Safe Haven works with at-risk individuals with an annual income of less than $10,000 who are experiencing, or have experienced: sex work, substance use, and/or homelessness or high-risk of homelessness (BSH, n.d.).

  • The Genesis Project, a three-phase housing project

All trainings are facilitated by transgender and non-binary people and are offered with the overarching “goal of contributing to a more just, equitable, and affirming world” (TTI, n.d.).

TTI offers virtual webinars and trainings, as well as in-person, and works with a variety of individuals, including: K-12 schools, colleges and universities, social service providers, healthcare/public health workers, mental health providers, and businesses and corporations (TTI, n.d.).

PFLAG is committed to providing peer-to-peer support to ensure that all LGBTQIA+ individuals find value and pride in themselves by educating individuals about important and relevant issues having to do with the LGBTQIA+ community, and advocating for inclusive laws and policies (PFLAG, n.d.). PFLAG also encourages and works to help others obtain family support, safer communities, and a more diverse and inclusive environment.

PFLAG is a great resource for:

  • Legislative issues

  • Tools and resources to assist with advocacy & lobbying

  • Action alerts for legislation that can create equity
