I am so glad you’re here to learn a little bit more about Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, how it works, what it might hold for you, and what it would be like to work with me as a provider!

We have all felt stuck before, it’s why many turn to therapy. Unfortunately, there’s a whole new level of stuck-ness some experience when you’ve worked your way through the tools and supports of talk therapy and/or medication, and still haven’t been able to create the change you need.

Ketamine works on multiple levels to create movement and restore possibility where other approaches have had limited impact and often hope has been lost. Through quick-acting antidepressant effects, a boom in neuroplasticity that allows for brain rewiring, and new insight gained through your psychedelic experiences and processing in a supportive therapeutic environment, old patterns can be unlearned, and new ways forward can be unlocked.

My passion for this treatment is grounded in remarkable changes I have witnessed in clients, observed from loved ones, and personally experienced. KAP is far from a magic bullet, although it provides a transformative process that allows you to spend time with yourself in before-unexperienced ways, within a safe supportive environment where change, and relief is possible!

KAP supports you in easing old, rigid ways of thinking and acting, and allows for you to approach your life with greater flexibility and perspective. Because of this, individuals with depression, anxiety, PTSD or trauma-related symptomatology and OCD often benefit significantly from KAP

My therapeutic approach focuses on supporting personal exploration based in self-compassion and guided by your values. The goal is to allow for a healthier relationship with yourself, others and the world around you. We use mindfulness to tune into your internal experience of life to figure out what is working, what feels authentic to you, and what no longer serves. I bring this same approach to KAP work, and look forward to the opportunity to make changes with you!

Liza’s Work

Outside of the office…

I’m an avid traveler and love immersing myself in other cultures and taking myself out of my comfort zone. I’m always planning my next adventure! I love to cook and am always looking for new recipes. If I’m not cooking it up myself, I also enjoy trying new local restaurants and coffee shops, and re-visiting old favorites. In addition to spending time with family and friends I love to hang out with my cats and watch escapist TV. I also love to read, and am always looking for recommendations!

Educational Background

My undergraduate degree is in Sociology from Goucher College, and my masters degree in clinical social work is from University of Maryland, Baltimore. While completing my graduate studies I participated in the trauma education initiative (TECI) and participated in the school’s behavioral health fellowship (BHWISE). I have practiced in school-based, outpatient and private practice settings, where I supported clients across the lifespan with a variety of presenting issues including anxiety, OCD, life transitions, relational difficulties and trauma. I also have a background in mediation, during which I focused on supporting adults to build communication skills and navigate interpersonal challenges.

I am trained in Ketamine-Assisted-Psychotherapy (KAP) , Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and the Mastery Approach for treating OCD, and am a trauma-informed practitioner, having completed training in multiple trauma treatment modalities including Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD and Trauma-Focused CBT. I have also completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and I am a Certified Brainspotter.
