LifeSpring Counseling Services: Supporting the Commitment of Baltimore City Teachers

Teaching at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute means stepping up to a challenge every single day. You are shaping young minds, pushing students to reach their full potential, and showing up even when the deck is stacked against you.

There’s a lot of noise out there about Baltimore City Schools from people who don’t understand the passion, the grit, and the dedication it takes to teach here. They don’t see the students for who they really are: bright, determined, and capable when given the right support, resources, and someone who believes in them. They don’t see the teachers who pour everything they have into creating a better future for those students.

At Poly, you know better. You understand that teaching here isn’t just about textbooks and tests. It’s about creating opportunities, pushing for excellence, and investing in your students’ success, no matter what challenges they face. You’re making a difference, even when it’s hard to see immediate results. But doing that work day in and day out takes a toll!

You Deserve the Space to Recharge

Life as a teacher in Baltimore City public schools can be overwhelming. The emotional weight of supporting students, navigating classroom dynamics, and constantly juggling responsibilities can drain your energy. At LifeSpring Counseling Services, we work with A LOT of teachers, and we’re just minutes away from Poly in the Meadow Mill building , offering therapy to teachers like you. We know how demanding your job is, and we’re here to help you find a healthy way to manage that pressure.

We Know Why Teachers Delay Therapy—But It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way

Many teachers hesitate to seek therapy, even when they know they need it. Here are a few common reasons, and how we make it easy to move past them:

  • "I don’t have time." We’re located just minutes away in the Meadow Mill building off of I-83, and we offer evening appointments that fit your busy schedule. We also make signing up for therapy SUPER easy!

  • "Therapy is too expensive."  Guess what? We work with many teachers who use their health insurance to cover their sessions, making therapy VERY affordable. Our billing team will even verify your benefits for you. Many of our teachers pay $20 or less for their sessions!

  • "The stress is just part of the job." It’s true that teaching is challenging, but that doesn’t mean you should accept burnout or emotional exhaustion as part of the deal. That’s not sustainable, and you’ve already invested soo much time and energy into your own education!

  • "I should be able to handle this myself." Yes, we know. Many teachers love helping, AND they have a difficult time being the ones receiving help. If we want to help others, it’s good practice to allow ourselves to be on the receiving end of help as well. Important life lessons come from that! Even therapists go to therapy!

Your Work Makes a Difference, and So Does Your Well-Being

You are making an impact every day, advocating for your students, encouraging them to reach new heights, and believing in their potential even when others don’t. Now it’s time to show yourself the same level of care.
