Hello! My name is Jackson Borchers (he/him/his) and I am a Masters-Level Counseling Intern from Towson University. I offer individual counseling to both children and adults who are facing loneliness, difficult life transitions, struggles with forming or maintaining connections, and trauma.

Our current world is filled with so much negativity and isolation, it can be hard to feel heard or connected to a greater picture. Whether it be moving to a new location, struggling to find your place in the world, juggling multiple responsibilities and ambitions, or facing an unimaginable circumstance, life is always ready to throw us curveballs. Through a person-centered approach, I hope to be part of your journey to process what you’re facing right now and prepare you with tools for the unpredictable future.

As an only-child who grew up in a military family and moved a lot, I know what it feels like to be lost and lonely in the world. I hope these experiences will allow us to form a therapeutic relationship with empathy and understanding at the core.

In addition to a person-centered approach, I tend to integrate some cognitive behavioral strengths and acceptance based strategies into my practice. Above all, I radiate optimism and belief in the person who sits across from me in the therapy room. I want to help you achieve what you desire, find meaning, and be a light along your path.

I am new to Baltimore, and have only lived here for a year, so I am hoping to learn from my clients as much as possible about life in Baltimore and the unique struggles and joys the city may bring. I hope to develop as a culturally humble practitioner and engage in a continual learning process.

Finally, I personally come from a religious background and understand the importance of religion or spiritual ties within therapy. While I do not integrate religion and spirituality into every client’s treatment plan, if this is something that is important to you, I will happily work with you to validate and understand your religious background in terms of treatment.

Outside of the office…

When I’m not in the office (or in school), you can find me at the movie theater, seeing almost anything that’s out. I love watching a variety of movies and learning about different experiences through a cinematic lens. I also enjoy watching sitcoms and reality TV. Finally, I’ve been a swimmer for my entire life and still compete with a local adult team and league, so I’m often at the pool.

Educational Background

I completed a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Political Science, with a minor in Film Studies, from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. This experience made me a believer in interdisciplinary approaches to education and psychology, so I’m always looking for ways to utilize and talk about how different fields interact with therapy! I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at Towson University. This next year, I will be fulfilling my internship requirement here at LifeSpring.
