Alyssa Brown, LMSW

Hi! I’m Alyssa Brown (she/her/hers), a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Mental Health Therapist based in Baltimore, Maryland. I offer therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, and I’m deeply committed to supporting those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life’s many transitions. I have a strong passion for working with LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals, and I strive to create a space where all clients feel seen, heard, and valued.

There tends to be a gap between those who need mental health care and those who are able to access it, and I aim to be part of the solution. With a background in social work, I bring empathy, understanding, and practical tools to help individuals manage life’s challenges. I know it can be hard to prioritize your mental health while balancing the demands of everyday life.

That’s why I meet my clients with transparency and honesty, so you can feel supported, empowered, and respected in your journey, whether you’re seeking concrete strategies or simply a space to talk things through.

At the heart of my work is a commitment to creating a warm, welcoming environment rooted in the values of Southern hospitality. Kindness, care, and respect go a long way in helping people feel safe and supported. I believe therapy should be a partnership, one where we explore your strengths, navigate your struggles, and work together to create meaningful, lasting change.

If you're ready to take the first step toward a healthier, more balanced life, I’d be happy to walk with you on this path. Let’s connect and start your journey today.

“We have to improve life, not just for those who have the most skills and those who know how to manipulate the system. But also for and with those who often have so much to give but never get the opportunity.”

— Dorothy Irene Height

Educational Background

I attended North Carolina State University, where I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work. During my collegiate years, I interned as a case manager for university students and staff, an advocate and admin worker for the campus’s LGBTQ office, and as a Home Visitor for HIPPY, a Head Start organization for low-income families. I’ve had the opportunity to take various trainings while working in the field. I gained crisis management and mental health first aid while working as a CPS case manager. I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children when I was a school mental health therapist. I am currently in the process of getting my certification in Perinatal Mental Health.
