Hi there! My name is Tyler (he/him/his), and I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland. I offer individual counseling to adolescents, young adults, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, or traumatic experiences. I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds, with a passion for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you're dealing with challenging relationships, identity struggles, life transitions, or stress related to any of these, I'm happy to help you process and navigate through those painful moments.
Above all, I aim to create an environment where you feel understood and accepted. I believe in prioritizing your comfort and feelings to create a safe, warm space, where you can be vulnerable and explore challenging thoughts and confusing emotions. Through collaboration and connection, my hope is that you can have a better understanding of your past in order to create a sense of empowerment in the present and hope for the future.
It can be difficult to quiet our minds sometimes, and my hope is to guide you towards a sense of control and balance in your everyday life. You may feel nervous, ashamed, apathetic, or all of the above about therapy, and that's okay. You are capable of personal growth and change, and I would love to support you in taking your first steps on your journey towards self-discovery and inner peace.
When working with teens and young adults, I include elements of cognitive-behavioral and narrative therapy. I find that, by discussing our negative thoughts out loud and thinking about our feelings from a different perspective, we tend to feel less overwhelmed and reach a place of insight about ourselves. By talking through your life experiences and memories, my goal is to see you gain awareness and build trust within yourself and in others.
I deeply value compassion, authenticity, creativity, and humor in the therapeutic world. You deserve the freedom to express yourself and have a laugh without judgment. Together, we can work on cultivating a sense of identity and connect deeper with the values you care about most. Therapy can feel scary; it is my full intention to alleviate your concerns and provide my support.
I look forward to working with you and am excited to discover what we can do together.
“Communication is merely an exchange of information, but connection is an exchange of our humanity.”

Outside of the office…
When I'm not working, I'm usually listening to music, solving puzzles, watching reality television, or playing video games. When I'm feeling particularly inspired, I like to work on my own music and play the acoustic guitar. On the weekends, I am usually playing tennis (a sport I've loved since 8 years old!) and enjoying quality time with my friends playing tabletop role-playing games.
Educational Background
I received my B.S. in Psychology and B.A. in Criminology & Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park and received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. While completing my undergraduate courses, I completed the College Park Scholars program in Global Public Health. Further, I was a research assistant for two psychology research labs, one of which was an extension of the university's psychotherapy clinic. My clinical experience has been with children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults (primarily men) experiencing anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, and substance use issues. Specifically, I have worked with clients in the Residential Rehabilitation Program and assessed and taught life skills and coping skills.
