Maybe you are much kinder to others than you are to yourself. The grace you give to others can feel strange to give to yourself. You may find yourself stuck in a loop of “I should have…” or “I should be…” and those “shoulds” may be holding you back from living authentically. Maybe you feel that you need to make yourself small and are afraid of taking up too much space. You put your wants and needs aside and strive to be the person you think others want you to be. You may carry guilt and replay moments in your mind. Somewhere along the way you’ve disconnected from your own voice. You expect more from yourself, and yet somehow nothing feels enough, and you’re not sure what you actually want anymore

Hi! My name is Charity Morton (she/her/hers). I work with adults (18+) who are navigating life transitions, grief, shame, guilt, or difficult experiences that have made it challenging to move forward. I also welcome clients who feel disconnected from themselves, are stuck in familiar patterns, or are unsure of what they want their lives to look like. Whether you have previous therapy experience or this is your first time, I strive to meet you where you are.

You don’t have to have all the answers before starting therapy. I believe therapy is a place where you can show up as you are, without trying to be the perfect client or feeling like you need to wrap your struggles up neatly with a bow. This is a place where you can exhale and be yourself, and that is enough. Maybe therapy is a place where you begin to understand why you learned to make yourself smaller and slowly discover that you don’t need to make yourself smaller, but instead have more room to be you.

I believe each client is unique, with different needs and experiences. As a strengths-based, relational therapist, I strive to be curious about you and the experiences that have shaped who you are today. As a Filipino American, I value understanding how culture, identity, and lived experiences shape how we understand ourselves. I value understanding how the patterns in your life make sense in the context of your experiences. Together, we can explore not only what you want to change, but also the parts of yourself that you have learned to hide and work toward meaningful, realistic goals that help you create a life that feels more authentic to you.

“You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves”

-Mary Oliver

Charity’s
Work

Outside of the Office

When I am not in the office, I enjoy reading and trying new coffee recipes! I also love crafts and have been engaging in crocheting and beading. I also love gardening; however, my plants and I are still working on our relationship, and I still have a lot to learn! When I’m not trying to keep my garden alive, I enjoy a good New York Times puzzle or continuing to add hobbies to my ever growing list.

Trainings and Education

I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Psychology with a minor in Sociology, as well as a second degree in Psychology: Counseling. I went on to earn my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I had the privilege of serving as Chapter President of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) International Counseling Society. My experience has been in outpatient treatment centers where I had the privilege of working with individuals navigating with substance use, trauma, grief, depression, and relational issues.
