Sliding Fee Discount Program
At LifeSpring Counseling Services, we believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality mental health care, regardless of their income or insurance status. That’s why we offer a Sliding Fee Discount Program to reduce the financial barriers that might prevent someone from getting the help they need. This program is designed for individuals who are uninsured, underinsured, or experiencing financial hardship.
What Is the Sliding Fee Discount Program?
Our Sliding Fee Discount Program provides free or reduced-cost counseling services based on your household income and family size, using the most current Federal Poverty Guidelines. Whether you're facing a temporary financial challenge or lack insurance coverage, we're here to support you.
We do not require you to apply for Medicaid or health insurance to qualify for the program, and we will never deny services based on inability to pay.
Who Can Apply?
You may be eligible if you…

Are uninsured or underinsured

Are experiencing financial hardship

Fall at or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines
Both related and unrelated household members can be considered when determining family size.
Eligibility is based solely on income and family size.
What’s the Discount?
100% Discount: Available to individuals and families with incomes at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Reduced Fee: Individuals between 101–200% of the guidelines qualify for a nominal fee, based on our sliding fee schedule.
No one is denied services due to inability to pay.
If your financial situation changes significantly, you may reapply at any time.
How to Apply
To submit an application to our sliding fee discount program to determine eligibility, you can:

Contact our Administrative & Billing Assistant by phone at 443-726-1318, and they will assist you.
Documents that may be used for income verification include:
Two most recent pay stubs
Prior year’s W-2
Letter from employer
Self-employment income/expense detail (last 3 months)
Signed statement of income if no documents are available
What Happens After You Apply?
You’ll receive a written determination with either an approval or explanation of denial.
If approved, your discount will apply to services for the next 12 months.
If you’re approved for less than a full discount or denied, we’ll work with you to set up a manageable payment plan.
If you cannot pay the discounted or nominal fee, LifeSpring may approve a waiver of charges on a case-by-case basis.
Program Integrity & Confidentiality
We take your privacy seriously. All applications and related documents are securely stored and managed by our Administrative and Billing Assistant.
LifeSpring’s Commitment
As a community-focused practice, we are committed to removing barriers to care. We do not discriminate based on ability to pay or insurance status—including Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP participation.
The Sliding Fee Schedule is updated annually to reflect the most recent federal guidelines. We review our policies regularly to ensure they continue to meet the needs of our community.
